Obituary for Gerald Cole Schafer

Gerald Cole Schafer of Cincinnati was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday February 17, 2019.  Gerald was
born June 16, 1932 in Topeka, Kansas to Harry and Edith Schafer. United in marriage on June 12, 1954,
he was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Sharon Ann Schafer. He was a loving father,
grandfather and great-grandfather.

He fell in love with golf at an early age and enjoyed following the game. Graduating from Kansas
University in 1954, he was a lifelong Jayhawker and often led the Rock Chalk Jayhawk cheer. He served
in the United States Air Force and had a 36-year career with Procter & Gamble, serving in various sales
and human resource positions.

He is survived by his children and spouses, Michael (Susie) Schafer of Irvine, CA, Lisa (Steve) Correll of
Cincinnati, OH and John (Barb) Schafer of Mission Viejo, CA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren
and 8 great-grandchildren: Kyle (Rachel and great-grandson Maxwell), Mark (Karen), Sarah (John and
great-grandchildren Calvin, Naomi and Rowan), Rachael (Tyron and great-grandchildren Jett, Ruby and
Noelle), Hannah (Julian and great-granddaughter Poppy), Gabe, Mary, Caleb, Jesse, Josh, Zeke, Lauren
(Sean), Abby, and Grace. 

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Otterbein Union Twp., 1119 Neighborhood Dr. (far
right corner building off of Bach Buxton Road) on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 am.  A private family
interment will immediately follow.  T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home serving the family.
