Obituary for Jean C. Williams

Jean C. Williams (nee Owens), she died peacefully at Hospice of Cincinnati East in Anderson Twp. on Jan. 11, 2019 with her family members by her side, at the age of 93 years, she was formerly of Anderson Twp., wife of the late Monte A. Williams, beloved mother of Bonnie (Jene) Galvin, Beverly Williams, Terry (Denise) Williams, and Tom Williams, dear grandmother of Mitch (Holly) Galvin, Lindsey (David) Todd, Wendy Davies, Heather (Tony) Cunado, and Samantha Williams, sister of the late Gayle Owens and Sarah Morgan, also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. As a young mother of two toddlers in the early 1950s, Jean would pack a suitcase-size container with her weeks work, addressed envelopes she typed at her kitchen table. Then she walked with her children down a long street stairway to Columbia Parkway where they all caught a city bus to the R. L. Polk Company in downtown Cincinnati so she could turn in her piece work and get more materials for the following week.

It was that fierce work ethic, combined with her equally hard working WW II veteran husband, Monte Williams, who preceded her in death in 2008, that provided her children, Bonnie, Beverly, Terry, and Tom, catholic educations, dance lessons, sports opportunities, and drum instructions.

"She was the hardest working woman I've ever known," said Tom, her youngest. But after years of service eventually as a veteran secretary at the Taft Research Center, in Cincinnati, she got her dream retirement in Lakeland, FL, with Monte.
